2021 - 8th Annual Covenanter Scottish Festival

Annual Advent Vespers Service

The Octorara Covenanter Presbyterian Foundation will hold its annual Advent Vespers service at Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1199 Valley Road, Quarryville, on Sunday, December 5, at 3:00 PM. The Covenanter Church and Schoolroom Museum, located just north of Middle Octorara, across Rt 372, will be open for tours and research from 1:00 to 2:30 PM.

The prelude will feature the bagpiping of Jonathan Welch followed by remarks by Foundation V-P Dan Henry and prayer by Pastor John Barlow. Secular and sacred music will include selections by the Solanco High School Chorale, directed by Erin Biles, harpist Kendrah Absher, Country Tenors John Girvin and Richard Keene, and congregational carols.

Honoring our Scottish heritage, Donald and Becki Henderson will sing Silent Night and We Wish You a Merry Christmas in Gaelic. Donald Henderson will read the Christmas Story from Luke 2 and Matthew 1 in Braid-Scots dialect.

Refreshments will be served in the social hall after the service.
